We Want You!

The Dream Factory of Florida is seeking individuals with a passion for volunteering and the desire to help create moments of a lifetime for critically and chronically ill children. The Florida Chapter is beginning its’ second year of making dreams come true and as awareness of our existence grows, so does the need for more volunteers. Below is a brief description of the committees that you could serve on. We want you to be a part of our team!

  • Dream Management – Meets and screens dream applicants (children between the ages of 3 and 18), as well as their parents or legal guardians. Verifies illness(es) of child with doctor(s) and oversees completion of application and release forms. Submits applications to Board of Directors for approval. Coordinates travel arrangements, hotel, rental car, event tickets, etc. for dream child and family.

  • Corporate Fundraising – Actively seeks sponsorships from local businesses as well as corporations in the Greater Brandon/Tampa Area. Cultivates relationships with active members of the community that will be mutually beneficial for all concerned while creating more awareness for our mission. Individuals must be able to attend Chamber of Commerce functions and/or networking/leads group meetings to promote the Dream Factory.

  • Special Events – Works well with a team of individuals to plan and execute special events, such as golf tournaments, car shows etc. Energetic individuals who are motivated and get results while always remaining professional.

  • Procurement – Works alongside Special Events committee to obtain items needed for the events such as awards, auction items, tables, chairs, etc. at little to no cost.

  • Newsletter – Creates/writes quarterly newsletter to be emailed to database of contacts. Coordinates with Secretary regarding new contacts for database.

  • Website – Coordinates with website manager for monthly updates/additions/deletions/changes to website.

Under The National Child Protection Act (1993), as amended, and section 943.0542, Florida Statutes (1999), anyone having direct contact with children must submit to a background check. Therefore, it is the policy of The Dream Factory, Inc. that all volunteers in contact with children or finances submit and pay for a background check. If you are interested in being a part of a team whose mission is to bring joy to an ill child, please attend our next meeting. And, for those of you who are interested in more of a leadership role and have a desire to make more of an impact on the organization, consider serving on our Board of Directors. Elections will be held in the Spring of 2008. Please take a look at the criteria for serving as an elected Board Member. For further information, please contact the Area Coordinator.
